Pipes in production · QST series

Thickness gauges for pipes in production.

QST series 100% in-line control

The QST is a multichannel thickness gauge for continuous, in-line control of plastic pipe (HDPE, PVC, GRP) during extrusion. It lets you fine-tune resin consumption and control 100% of production, not just a sample. It measures by pulse-echo ultrasound with single-crystal transducers mounted on the line, and logs measurements in real time with the dmq DataCenter software.

Before you continue

Is this your equipment?

Yes, if you need to

  • Control the wall thickness of plastic pipe during extrusion, continuously.
  • Measure 100% of production rather than sampling, to fine-tune resin consumption.
  • Install the measurement directly on the line, with 1 to 4 channels.
  • Log each pipe with its resin, batch and operator, and transfer it to PC.

No, if you need to

  • Measure the wall thickness of a part or a pipe on a one-off basis, by hand: that's a QS series (portable).
  • Control the outer diameter or ovality of the pipe: the QST measures wall thickness.
  • Measure metal pipe: ask us about your application.

QST series

Multichannel thickness gauge for extrusion

Installed directly on the extrusion line, it measures by pulse-echo with single-crystal transducers and integrates with the dmq DataCenter software for real-time monitoring and logging from a PC.

ChannelsUp to 4 simultaneous measuring channels (modular, QST/1 to QST/4; 4 channels recommended)
Diameter range20–250 mm outer diameter (0.8–10 in)
Wall thickness range0.5–200 mm (0.2–7.9 in)
Transducers2 MHz and 5 MHz, single-crystal, depending on thickness and diameter
MeasurementReal time (~8 Hz), logging by time or distance, input for a length encoder
AlarmsVisual and relay output for minimum/maximum thresholds

A system built to measure.

Every QST system is built to the customer's specifications — diameters and wall thicknesses to control, number of channels, line layout — and installed on site, directly on the extrusion line.

The transducers are fixed in place on each channel: the 2 MHz straight transducer is designed for thick walls and large-diameter pipe, while the 5 MHz straight transducer is used on thin walls and small-to-medium diameter pipe. Extension cables are available in several lengths to adjust the cable reach to the system's needs.

What's included when you buy here

  • System built to measure. We define the channels, diameters and line layout with you, and the manufacturer installs on site.
  • 5-year warranty limited to the electronic unit, when the equipment is registered at www.demeq.com within the first year.
  • Service across Europe. Technical support for everyday use, plus recalibration and repair, in and out of warranty.
  • Documentation. Manufacturer's Certificate of Conformity included. Traceability certificate on request when you ask for your quote.

How many channels and what diameters?

Tell us what pipe you produce —material, diameters and thicknesses— and what your extrusion line looks like. We'll prepare the QST system configuration for you.
