Portable hardness testers · QH7, QH5 and QH5 U Series

Portable hardness testers for metals.

Leeb + UCI QH7, QH5 and QH5 U Series

Take the hardness tester to the part: large components on site, stock material, heat-treated parts, castings or forgings, and restricted-access spaces. Measures on steel, bronze, brass, aluminium, welds and heat-affected zones, with two complementary methods: Leeb (rebound) and UCI (Ultrasonic Contact Impedance).

Before you continue

Is this the right line for you?

Yes, if you need to

  • Measure hardness without taking the part to a bench: large components, in situ, stock material.
  • Test castings, forgings, welds or heat-affected zones.
  • Have Leeb, UCI or both methods in a single unit (QH7).
  • Convert the result to HL, HV, HB, HRC, HRB, HS or N/mm².

Not the right fit if you need to

  • Measure hardness on plastics or elastomers: the QH line is for metals only.
  • Measure wall or coating thickness: that's the QS or QC series.
  • Run a laboratory Vickers test with a standardised load and optical measurement of the indentation.

Series

Three series, one standard of precision.

QH7 Series

Heavy-Duty hardness testers, Leeb + UCI

The most complete models in the line: they accept all impact devices (D, DC, DL, C, G, E) and all UCI probes (10 N, 50 N, 98 N) in a single unit.

Model Leeb UCI Right for you if…
QH7 L Yes No You only need the Leeb (rebound) method.
QH7 U No Yes You only need the UCI method.
QH7 C Yes Yes You want to switch between Leeb and UCI on the same unit.
Who it's forDemanding industrial use and laboratories that need both methods in one unit
GyroTagAutomatic impact angle correction (exclusive to Series 7)
Hardness scaleLeeb (HL), Vickers (HV), Brinell (HB), Rockwell B (HRB), Rockwell C (HRC), Shore (HS), Tensile strength (N/mm²), User units

QH5 Series

Leeb rebound hardness testers for metals

A solid, versatile mid-range option. Impact devices and probes with built-in calibration (CalTag): swap them without recalibrating.

Model Supported devices Right for you if…
QH5 D D, DC You work with the most common D and DC impact devices.
QH5 M D, DC, DL, C, G, E (all) You need every type of impact device.
QH5 G G (castings) You mainly test castings (G impact device).
CalTagBuilt-in calibration: change devices without recalibrating

QH5 U Series

Portable UCI hardness tester for metals

Measures using Ultrasonic Contact Impedance (UCI). A single model, with a choice of 10 N, 50 N or 98 N probe.

How to choose

Leeb or UCI, depending on the part.

Both are non-destructive hardness tests, but they don't perform equally well on every part: the choice depends on size, mass and available surface, not just material.

In short: Leeb for large, heavy parts, even with a rough surface. UCI for small, thin parts or those with difficult access. The QH7 combines both methods in a single unit; the QH5 covers Leeb and the QH5 U covers UCI, depending on your main application.
