Choosing between two lines?
The most common mix-ups have quick answers.
Hall effect or ultrasound
Ultrasound needs the sound to travel well through the material, plus a couplant gel. On plastic, glass, rubber or composites, and on very thin walls or curved geometries, the Hall effect is more reliable. On metal with access from one side only, use ultrasound.
Leeb or UCI
Leeb, for large, heavy parts, even with a rough surface. UCI, for small, thin or lightweight parts, welds and heat-affected zones. The QH7 does both.
Coating or wall thickness
The QC measures the coating on top of the metal. The QS measures the wall of the metal itself. If your part is painted and what you actually want is the thickness of the steel, you need a QS with echo-echo mode.
